Sharmila Bhowmick
Founder & Editor-In-Chief, Mocha Ink Mag
Everyone would have already read the news and formed their opinion when they reached Mocha Ink Mag. Then why do they come here at all?
Mocha offers a fresh perspective. A different experience, a different way of being or making sense of the world. Looking at the world of business through the eyes of a consumer, looking at lifestyle through its historical past or making sense of the complex through a simpler approach.
We are light. We simply wish to put the joy of reading back on the shelf where it belongs. There is no agenda. No political leaning.
Mocha is a labour of love. A self-funded passion project. The pieces are reflective. Slow even. So is Mocha Talks. Let it go down like a warm cup of coffee.
Who am I?
Born and educated in erstwhile Calcutta, I have spent most of my working years in the media houses of New Delhi, India for over 25 years.
I started out as a reporter and then ventured into feature writing and later produced television magazine shows. Eventually I ended up leading digital business and tv news teams before signing out of the mainstream.
Mocha Ink started out as a fun experiment of bringing together all the new elements of media – a digital magazine in the form of Mocha Ink Mag, a podcast – Mocha Talks.
The magazine observes a female-forward curation. Most of the supporting teams of Mocha are women – writers, designers and engineers.
We are not about de-centering any particular gender, but about platforming the female voice and opinion which the world has not paid attention to for a long time.
We complete the circle by supporting literacy of the girl child.
And here, I brew stories in ink, voice and love.
Say hello!
